Steam!

Since I bought a steam pot, I love to steam my food. I think steam is a healthier way to prepare our food! Do you agree with me? I steam fish (this is Anne's favourite):

I steam silken taufu (on top I put a lot of fried shallot):

And I steam minced pork with eggs and "dong choi":

But, Loong doesn't like steam food! I have to force him to eat all these food. He said, it's taste-less... You see, that's why he got hypertension at such a young age!!! It a difficult task to control his diet!! I hate it when he show me his "sienz" face after looking at what I prepared!

PPP: Hotels

When I go travel, I prefer to pre-book my hotel before departure. I do not wish that I need to find my hotel after my arrival. That would be so tiring to search for hotel with a big beg with me. Since I came to Netherlands, I love to do a lot of things online. I shop online, I buy things online, I read online newspaper and now I started to look for hotel online!

Are you planning to visit UK? Now you can pick a hotel in UK at hotelshop easily. You even can make a last minute hotel bookings & reservations at the site. They are specialise in booking 2-5 star hotel accommodation & short breaks throughout the UK. You will definately find a hotel that is within you budget easily here.

I think I better plan for a trip to UK now! Some of my friend are working there, they can be my travel guide. What I need is a hotel room to stay in. This site is just right for me!

Wantan

I love wantan, but Loong do not like it. That is why I seldom have a change to make wantan. Last week, I was craving for wantan again. I decide to make wantan as my lunch. Since Loong is not coming back for his lunch during weekdays, I enjoy my favourite wantan so much and do not need to worry that Loong have nothing to eat or I have to cook another dish for him.

Ingredients:
  • Wantan skin
  • Minced pork
  • 4 dried mushroom (chopped)
  • garlics
  • salt to taste

As I mention before, I love marmitte. So, I just mix my cooked wantan with marmitte. Simple and delicious lunch!

RM: Halloween Costume

In Malaysia, we do not celebrate Halloween. We do not need to search for Halloween Costume every year for our children. But, deep inside my heart I love the concept of trick and treat. Children can go around door by door at their neighbourhood to get sweets. It is FUN! Some more can train my girl to be brave and not afraid to strangers.

This year is our 2nd Halloween in Netherlands. Last year we just arrived in Netherlands, we had too much things to settle than celebrating Halloween here. Besides, last year Anne was too young to join the fun of trick and treat. This year, I am not sure whether I will let Anne join trick and treat with other kids here but I started to love all those Halloween Costume I see when I was shopping. I started to imagine how I want to dress my girl. People always says that she looks like a boy, I am thinking to dress her like a fairy princess. I want to show everyone that my girl is a pretty girl!

Looking for kid's Halloween Costume? Ever consider a NFL uniform from Franklin Sports for a Halloween costume? Kids, especially BOYs love them! It will be fun to see a team of mini NFL going around for trick and treat!

Moon cakes!

I thought I am not going to have a change to eat moon cake this year. Moon cake sell here is expensive. Not that I cannot afford, I just refused to spent money on that. May be my sister know that I am stingy, so, she posted me 2 moon cakes. :-D

Tonight, I took out the moon cake and have a taste. Not bad lah... Not branded one but still OK lah!!!

PPP: Home sweet home

I am going to talk about furnitures again. If everything went smoothly, our new house in KL will be ready by end of this year. We are not going to move in yet because husband needs another 3 years to complete his Ph.D program in Holland. Anyway, I started to search for some idea on which type of furnitures I would like to have. Sofa is a very important Living Room Furniture, I will definately spent my money to get a comfortable sofa for my future house. At http://furniturefromhome.com/, I am also able to get lots of idea on Bedroom Furniture, Home Office Furniture, and even nice swivel bar stool for me to enjoy my drink at home. I had started to imagine how my future house will be.

Cheap meh?

Air Asia is having Happy 2008 sales to celebrate winning Best Low Cost Airline in Asia 2007. Since I am going back to Malaysia this year end, so I am planning to go back to my home town as well. I check the price at their website. Air fare from LCCT to Miri is RM8.00 per way. Cheap eh! I am going back with Anne, so total return ticket for 2 person is RM32. But, at the end I have to pay RM306. Yes, an extra of RM274 for all other fees and surchage. The details:
  • fare price RM 32.00
  • Airport Tax RM 30.00
  • Administration Fee RM 84.00
  • Fuel Surcharge RM 160.00
  • GoInsure RM 0.00

Aiyoo... Why fuel surcharge so high one!! When I first saw the offer, I was so happy...

PPP: Wing Chair

I know that it's a big headache when come to choose a furniture for your house. We always wish that we can get a set of furniture which suit our "taste", meet our design and of course within our budget. At http://furniturefromhome.com/, you can find lots of furnitures for you to choose from. To me, having a wing chair in our living room is a must. It will be a oh-so-good feeling to sink myself into it after a hard day of work. Check on some of the leather Wing Chairs and brown leather wing chair at the website, I am sure you can get what you want at the website easily!

So fast autumn liao??

Today, on our way to the open market, I noticed that most of the tree has changed to yellow color. I don't think that last year when we first came to Delft at this time, all trees were in yellowish color. I check back some of the pictures we took that time and YES, all trees still very green that time. This year, our summer is not very summer. The temparature always below 20'C most of the time. May be this is the reason that why this year all trees turn yellow so soon. I just hope that winter won't be too cold this year, although most probably I will not spent my winter here!

PPP: Life Planning

Life is too fragile and unpredictable. Every day when I open and read a set of newspaper, I can see news about natural desaster, accidents, murder case and lots more of incidents which cause dead and injuries. As a christian, we are well prepared to face life and death. That's why we are living our life to the fullest.

Soon after I gave birth to Anne - our lovely daughter, we started to do some family financial planning. The first thing we did is buy life and saving insurance for her and ourself. We hope that if something happen to both of us, at least our parents and our daughter will have extra money to support their life.

Estate planning is another way for you to show your love to your love one. I am working for a Provident Fund company for 3 years before I started my unpaid leaves. I saw a lot of cases where family members of the one who passed away need to go through a long period and a lot of paper work due to the reason that he/she did not make any estate planning.

Morris, Hall & Kinghorn is an Arizona law firm that has been providing quality legal services for over 30 years. PPP: Car Vacuum

I think for most aunties like me just do not like to vacuum our car. I seldom vacuum my car when I was in Malaysia. Or, I should say I never vacuum my car. This task is basically done by my husband always! Why? Because we need to use the same vacuum that we used at home to vacuum our car, which is so heavy and BIG. I am just too lazy to move the vacuum out of the house and vacuum my car. I think I should suggest to husband to get me a car vacuum so that he won't complaint that my car is dusty anymore.

When I was in Malaysia, husband and I both need to work. For sure, we will have our lunch at our office with colleagues. When we went home after work, it's almost 7pm already. I was just too lazy and tired to prepare our dinner. At the end, we would choose to eat outside. It's not to say that outside food is not good. But, I found that went I have outside food too much, my hair drops will increase. Both Loong and I found that we have hair loss problem slowly.

Changing color...

Leaves are changing color from green to yellowish now. I can't believe that summer is ending and autumn is coming now. Why summer so short one? No, I should say I don't feel summer at all. Anyway, I am happy. Why? Because, I will go back to Malaysia during Winter time! Yeah~~~

PPP: Online Quiz

Some times, when I am bored, I will search for some online quiz and personality test to play with. Some are fun and even make me feel great after doing the quiz. I also found that it's interesting to have a poll on my blog so that I can do some survey easily on certain issue. There is one interesting site call Quiblo. Quibblo is a hip, fun user-generated site for quizzes, polls, surveys and personality tests. You can take and create online quizzes, and then add those quizzes to your own site easily. Users who take the personality tests even can add personality badges to their blogs or MySpace pages. Fun, right? Try it out then!

Kena Complaint!

This is the 4th times this fellow who stay downstairs complaint about us. What I want to say is, HE IS TOO SENSITIVE!

He always complaint that Anne is very noisy (running footsteps of her). I do not think that she is noisy, OK? May be some times when Anne running in the room does cause some "ping-pong-ping-pong" noise, but it's in the afternoon, for a very short period! How does HE wants me to control my girl? Tie her up and not allow her to walk around? STUPID! I will get Anne ready to bed by 8:30pm. Means, we will be in the room by 8:00am, reading books or sing together. So, by 8:00pm we will be very quiet already! What's more he wants? And, I always warn Anne to walk slowly now. How loud can be a toddler's footsteps? We almost very expert in "qing gong" already!

Yesterday we were so angry with this fellow. It's Monument Open Day, so, we were not at home most of the time. Even when we were at home, Anne was sleeping, I am cooking, Loong is surfing net. Then at 7:30pm, he came and told us that he is going to complaint to the housing agent that we were noisy! What the HELLLL! Yesterday we seldom WALK in the room, you know? The time he knocked our door, we were eating oranges on the floor, not even walking in the room, how can we be noisy? He has dog's ear is it??

Anyway, a Malaysia who is his coursemate told us that he is a complaint king! So, we are unlucky to stay upstairs of his room! He need a super-duper quiet room. He cannot stands any noise (NO, I don't think we are noisy!). The problem is on HIM, not US!

Go lah... go complaint lah! We will tell the truth. We are not in the wrong position! Duh~

PPP: Debate website

Politic issue can be very sensitive. Many people will try to avoid to voice out their thiking just because they do not want to get involve in political issue. There is one online political forum which allow you to have your free speech there. You are free to voice out your opinion to any issue that you want to or debate with other. I read some debate there which bring lots of thinking in my mind now. Anyway, what I must say here is, if you want to voice out your opinion, please make sure that you know what you are doing and be responsible to what you have voice out.

Monumentendag!

I write the title in Dutch! Means Monument open day. Today and tomorrow is monument open day in Delft. Most of the Monuments are open to public FOC. We never visit any monement in Delft since we arrive here, because we are waiting for this day to do the visit. Hahaha... can save up a lot of entrance fees, you know?

PPP: Retiree Workforce

In Malaysia, our government retirement age is 56 years old. To my husband, 56 years old is too early. He said a 56 years old man is still fit and strong enough to continue working. I heard many retirees complaint about their boring life after the retirement also. Anyway, I still hear some good response from one of my ex-colleague who enjoy her life after retirement so much that she feels her life is much more interesting than before. She works as a part time sales agent and get to go travel when she feels like to.

With current labourforce crisis, a lot of companies started to look for more mature and experienced worker to fill the gap with the younger generation. Their knowledge is much needed to train the young one to be able to work more independently. By going back to workforce, retirees can use their time and their expertise wisely. They can still earn money to support their own life and the best part is, if they are still under workforce, they can get other benefits like medical coverage and financially secured.

Are you a retiree or going to be a retiree but still wish to continue to be able to serve a company with the knowledge that you have? Try to look for more information at Retireeworkforce.com. This site offers a solution that connects employers that want to hire reitrees and retirees looking to get back into the workforce. What are you waiting for? Post your resume today! You might get a change to work in America!

Article sharing

My friend fowarded the following informative email to me which I would like to share with you. For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.

It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.

Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine.

Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!)

Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.

60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.

Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

Read this...It could save your life!!

Let's say it's 6.15pm and you're driving home. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest to your home.

Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE?

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!

PPP: Trusted Places

When I visit a new place, some times I will feel unsecured. May be due to the reason that I am not familiar to the place. Many of my friends are currently working in London. I think it's pretty normal for a young people to go to bar once in a while for some fun or entertainment. Are you looking for a trusted pub and bar in London? Try this community web site where members can share their opinions on places that they know, trust, recommend or even avoid. Then you can find a suitable place for you to go out with your best friends easily.

Watercrest soup.

Since Anne started to love eating rice, I have to boil a soup everyday for her to eat with her rice. Watercrest soup is one of Anne's favourite soup. If I mix her rice with this soup and cut some watercrest into her rice, she will finish one big bowl of rice in 15 minutes.

It's not easy to get watercrest here. We only can get it from Hua Nam Hang in Rotterdam. Luckily this shop is very near to our church in Rotterdam, so normally we will go to this shop after our Sunday service. We have to wait at the main door for the shop open at 12:oopm every sunday (Sunday service ended 11:30am)!

Ingredients:

  • 2 bulks of watercrest
  • pork ribs
  • red dates
  • dried longans
  • chinese wolfberry

Steps:

  1. Wash and separate the watercrest’s sprouts and stems.
  2. Boil a big pot of water and another small pot of water.
  3. When the small pot of water is boiling, add in pork ribs. Once the water boil again, take out the pork ribs and put into the big pot of boiling water. This is to avoid your soup look blur.
  4. Then add in the watercrest stems and red dates, dried longans, chinese wolfberry and then boil for at least 1 hours.
  5. Dig out the stems from the pot and put in the watercrest sprouts and let it boil for a while.
  6. When you just about to turn off the fire, add salt.
Simple and yummy soup!

Calorie Counter

My husband has high blood pressure since he was 27 years old. The main reason must be due to his eating habit. He loves seafood and pork which has very high Cholesterol content. Many people told us to do more exercise. But when we were in Malaysia, we seldom have a time to do that. That time, we only would go jogging may be once a week. Since we came here, Loong does a lot of cycling which is a very good exercise for him. Besides doing lots of exercises, I started to watch his diet closely everyday to avoid his blood pressure goes up again. Since then, Calorie Counter is a very important tool to me. I think every family should have one so that we can easily track our diet.

MyFitnessPal is a site where you can get your 100% free calorie counter. Besides that, you also can get lots of free and useful dieting tips from their Enewletter. You also can use their online calorie chart to check on nutrition facts for foods that you want to cook.

Wanna lose weight in a healthy way? MyFitnessPal is a very useful site which I think all of us should bookmark it and learn from the expert!

PPP: It's shopping season again!!!

How time flies. Now is september. Summer is leaving, autumn is coming. Weather is turning cold. When the cold wind blow, I started to thinking of my favourite festival season: Christmas! Too early? No, It's never too early for you to start thinking of what to buy for your loves one at this lovely season. I will be flying back to Malaysia this coming December. It's time for me to start searching for gifts to my friends and family back home. Lucky that I have internet access at home that I can do my online shopping while Anne is having her nap! It's impossible for me to shop peacefully with Anne running around. Talking about online shopping, you must try to get those discount coupons so that you can save some money for other purposes.

My sister will give birth to a baby girl end of the year. I think I will try to get some baby clothes at Baby Center Store. I can get a 20% off if I buy any 3 clothing item. Besides, I can try to get some toys for Anne at Kbtoys since they are giving out free shipping for some selected item.

Looking for a place to get more discount coupons? Check this out at http://www.couponchief.com/. I believe you can get what you want easily.

I feel like a failure!

Today, a Malaysian requested me to take care of her 2nd son for 10 munites. She needed to go out to fetch her first son back from school. Normally, her husband will fetch the son. But today, he got an emergency meeting to attend. The wife asked me to look after the son while she cycle to the school and fetch the first son. From the second I start carried the baby (11 months old), he was crying until the mother came back from the school with the big brother. I tried every toys, all kind of tactic... No use. Even Anne also try to sayang the baby, but he just refused to STOP! I feel like a failure. Can't even stop the baby from crying for one munites. Duh~

BUT, I am happy to see Anne sayang the boy a lot! She is willing to share all her toy with the boy!

A small achivement!

Ok, after 2 weeks of diaper-less during day time, what Anne's reaction on potty training? She still never pee in potty or toilet bowl. She pees countless time on the floor. BUT! At least, I think she knows what is "peeing". Today, after bath while she was still standing inside her play pool. She told me :"sheeee... sheeee....". Yes, she knows she wanted to pee. I quickly help her came out from her pool and ask her to squat down and pee. YES! She peed! This is the first time she saw herself peeing. Now I know she prefers to pee in squatting down position! :-D

I want to praise Pos Malaysia!

Normally, people only will complain about Pos Malaysia, complain about their lousy service. Since we come to Netherlands, we use Pos Malaysia's services very often. Normally our parcel would receive fastest within one week. Some would be very late, eg. 2 weeks for almost RM200 postage! When my sister first told me that she posted one parcel for us last Tuesday (21st August). Inside the parcel, they put in some present for Anne (for her 2nd birthday), a plastic musical lantern for Anne, some paper lantern and most importantly - some moon cake! She said, officer in Pos Malaysia (Miri Branch) told her that the parcel needs 2 weeks to reach here. 2 weeks, will be after Anne's birthday. OK, nevermind. But I am worried about the moon cake. Can the moon tahan the 2 weeks? My sister said this is a registered parcel, not Pos Laju some more! And the postage only cost RM54.50.

Guess how long it takes for the parcel to reach here? You are not going to believe this. 3 days!!! Tiga hari!!! Can you believe this? 3 days for a parcel to reach here from Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia to Delft, Netherlands. I cannot believe my eyes when I saw the collect-slip send by the postman here today. This is such an excellent sevice I have ever get from Post Malaysia. I am extremely surprised!

OK, I must say this, WELL DONE POST MALAYSIA!

Handphone Radiation

Got this email from my friend, just be more careful when you use a handphone!!

************************************************************

This morning I heard a sad real story from my colleague. She told me one ofher friend always miscarriage when the baby 2-3 months old for few timescontinuously in few years time. The couple went to check with many doctorsand lastly one of the doctor check on the death baby and found out thebaby's body cells keeping die when baby growing up until he/she cannot besurvived. This is because her uterus has been affected by HANDPHONE radiotion. The doctor told she has no chance to get baby no matter howbecause the radiotion affected her uterus which the major portion of heruterus cells already death, cannot carry healthy baby. All this because ofshe has been keeping her handphone in her working jacket which the positionjust right to the uterus positon for few years time. Please beware and takenote the consequences is not worth.

Dearest family members, please do not overlook the handphone radiationwhich will affect our health or body organs. Please put away your handphonewhen ever you don't need it much. Guys, please do not keep your handphonenear to the kidney position and pants pocket as this will hurt and affectyour "production" if you plan to get baby.

The other doctor also advice another friend to keep away handphone to hernew born baby to avoid radiotion to baby's brain and cells. Do not let thebaby or toddler play with the handphone for long time. Because the smallyoung baby or toddler still very fragile and most probably they cannot takethe radiotion.

Please remind yourself do not sleep together with your handphone or putnext to your bed. Keep away any other electronic goods (such as tv also)which got radiotion away from your bedroom to reduce risk as we have tosleep few hours a day in our bedroom at night. Do not think that you switchoff the TV it will be no radiotion actually it is still around in your roomjust not eyes visible. Even the small alarm clock not to be advised to putjust next to your head while sleeping.

Care about yourself and people that you love.

PPP: I want a Watch!

When I was in Malaysia, I seldom wear my watch. I only keep one function watch! Why I do not need a watch? You see, I was either at home or at the office most of the time. When I was at home, I prefer my hands to be free of any accessories. When I was at office, I depend to my PC's clock. If I went out, I will use my handphone to check on time. I did not see the need of a watch. But, once I come to Netherlands, I am so lazy to bring my handphone out with me. I do not like to keep my handphone in my pocket and I afraid I will lost my beg that I keep my handphone when I am too busy chasing Anne around. I see the need for me to get a watch now! I found that these Timex Watches is really nice and suite my taste! I should start bugging Loong to buy one for me! :-)

So tired!

As you know, I started my potty training session with Anne last week. She is yet to know to tell me before she wants to pee. From her reaction, you can tell that she wants to pee. But, when I put her on her potty or toilet seat, she won't pee. She will pee on the floor few minutes after she get up from her potty or toilet seat. I am so tired repeating the same sentence to her now. So, I decided to stop forcing her to pee into potty or toilet. I decided not to scold her also. I will only let her wear her diaper during her sleeps time and when we go out. The rest of the time will be either wearing cloth-diaper or pants only. Let's see with this method, how long she needs to be fully potty trained.

Anyway, during the potty training session, I changed her quite often. The result is, she learn to wear pants by herself. Not success all the time, but at least some time she will success! It' fun to see her try to wear pants by herself! :-)

Smorty

Since I decided to join the fun of blog for money, I only earn my money from one site! Due to the reason that blog advertising is become so popular now, I am happy to find another way for me to earn some extra pocket money from Smorty. Smorty is a service connecting advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers can pay bloggers to write opinion posts with links back to the advertisers site. The best part is, Smorty will email new campaigns to all suitable bloggers. This mean, I do not need to logon to Smorty to look for opportunities. I registered myself on last Friday and surprise that they actually approved my blog on Sunday, in just 2 day they approved my blog! Don't you think they are efficient? Now, I can earn extra money from different compamy not fully depend to one company. I also can buy more toys to Anne and of course some good things for myself as well!!!

What are you waiting for? Get yourself a blog and join me to blog for money!

PPP: Home Improvement.

This is a sponsored post.

One of my blogger friend are searching for some home remodeling idea because she would like to remodel her old house. When she told me about her idea on her house, I started to start imagine about my dream house. If I can afford a house, I will definately opt for a landed property. I wish my children will have a largerer area to play.

While searching on home improvement related idea, I am so surprise to find this site and read about the fact that "The best way to reduce traffic noise is actually to break up the sound waves.". One of the idea given is by put up a sturdy fence, or just can plant some trees. Yes, just trees. What a cheap way. I belief I can find more great information from the site.

Looking for home improvement ideas? Why not get your idea here as well?

Billy Beer Restaurant.

We seldom eat outside food. Main reason is, because it is expensive. If I opted to cook our dinner, each meal I think I only need €5.00 for a complete meal which include rice, 1 vege, 1 meat or even 1 soup. Anyway, since it was my birthday that day, I did not want to cook. We went our for our first self-paid western food in Netherlands.

We choose this Billy Beer Restaurant after reading some good review from GoGoDutch.com. Main reason also because this is a children friendly restaurant, as indicated by some of the reviewer.

This restaurant is decorated with a lot of teddy bears, children will love this place.

I ordered Ribeye steak - €16.50, oranged juice - €2.50 and Loong ordered Mixed fish platter, beer - €2.00 - €14.20. Total we spent that night - €35.20.

My Ribeye steak:

Loong's Mixed fish platter:

Our bill came together with there sweets! :-) The food just normal, but Anne enjoyed eating french fried that normally I would not allow her to eat so much!

PPP: Missionary travel agency

This is a sponsored post.

After I graduated from University, before I started my first work which requested me to join 2 weeks after my graduation, I decided to go for a missionary trip to a small village in Pahang - Kuala Lipis. This was an memorable one week missionary trip for me. All of us were from the same fellowship - Chuan Ai Fellowship and we had the same mission, that is to help the church in Kuala Lipis to spread Jesus's love to local people. In our country, we do not have a Missionary travel agency, we need to plan our journey, our program and our lodging by ourself. We were students, we cannot afford high cost. How I wish we could have this kind of Missionary travel agency which can help us to find the cheapest missionary flights for us so we can save the money to use in other purpose.

Planning for a missionary trip? You can find a lot of useful information at Golden Rule Travel. You can read some touching testimonials on Missionary and Testimonials page. Workers are ready to help by on their cell phone service 24/7. They offer a full range of travel services to individuals, church groups, NGOs, humanitarian agencies, and missionary organizations. I remember that it is very important to save every cents we spent during the trip, especially on travel expenses. Golden Rule Travel even have special contracts with airlines for missionaries, so that you can get the lowest possible airfare.

How I wish our country can have this kind of Missionary travel agency. With this kind of services available, we can put more efford in our program than spending time looking for a cheap fare.

"When God's Call Sends You Around The World, A Call To Golden Rule Travel Will Take You There."

Sorry Anne...

Just now, I felt so sorry that I scold Anne badly just because she peed on the floor. The minute before she peed, I asked her whether she wanted to pee or not and she replied "NO". Then she pees soon after I left her in the living room and went to kitchen. Suddently I heard she said: "Wet, wet, how?". I was so angry to see her peed on the floor. She wanted me to help her took off her pants but I refused. I wanted to let her know the "wet" feeling. She cried pittifully!

When I think back what I had done, I feel that I have very low EQ. Why should I get angry with a toddler who just started her potty training process few days ago? I wrote this down is to remind myself not to put high standard on my girl. I wish she can have a happy toddlerhood not always scold by mother only! OK, I will try my best to control my temper next time!

PPP: British Gas Launches Greenest Energy Tariff

This is a sponsored post.

Due to global climate change, some of the country has started to put more effort to become an environmentally friendly country. Main intention is to ensure safety of any natures. Recently, British Gas has announced it is launching two new green energy tariffs, Zero Carbon, which will be the greenest tariff available on the domestic market and Future Energy. Consumers signing up to the tariff can be confident that they are getting 12 per cent more renewable energy than they would otherwise have got. For more information, you can have a look at the press release attached.

Press Release:

BRITISH GAS LAUNCHES GREENEST ENERGY TARIFF

9 August 2007: British Gas has announced it is launching two new green energy tariffs, Zero Carbon, which will be the greenest tariff available on the domestic market and Future Energy. British Gas has launched the tariffs, in response to the increasing demand for green energy products.

Householders signing up to the Zero Carbon tariff will:
  • reduce their household energy carbon emissions to zero through Kyoto compliant offset schemes which will meet the new Defra requirements
  • help fund a direct increase in investment in renewable energy generated in the UK
  • contribute to the new British Gas green fund which will:
  1. invest in developing new renewable technologies such as wave power
  2. oversee a programme to help schools in the UK reduce their CO2 emissions

Gearóid Lane, Managing Director British Gas New Energy said,”Our new tariff responds to consumer demand for truly green energy solutions. It is essential that customers have confidence in green energy tariffs and that their credibility is not damaged by tariffs that claim to be green but in reality do not deliver any incremental environmental benefits. Green tariffs are moving from niche to mainstream products and we’re leading the industry by offering a tariff that will do more for the environment than any other product currently available.”

Under the government’s Renewables Obligation (RO), electricity suppliers in the UK are already required to produce an increasing percentage of their electricity through methods such as wind farms which, unlike traditional power plants, produce zero carbon emissions. For 2007/2008 this figure is set at 7.9%.

In a recent report, the National Consumer Council (NCC) raised concerns that some energy suppliers are packaging electricity which is produced under the RO scheme as “green”, yet it delivers no additional environmental benefits. The NCC called on energy suppliers to take steps beyond their legal requirements and offer green energy tariffs that provide genuine additional environmental benefits, in particular CO2 emissions reduction.

British Gas worked with Global Action Plan and The Climate Group’s “We’re in this Together” campaign to develop Zero Carbon which goes further than any other green tariff in meeting these requirements offering consumers the only zero carbon option on the market.

The tariff carries a premium of £84 per year, reflecting the higher cost of producing energy through lower carbon emission schemes.

Virginia Graham, Chair of Global Action Plan, said, “The British Gas Zero Carbon tariff delivers on all three of the essential requirements of a green tariff which are: additionality, transparency and verifiability. As such it is a very welcome new offering in the market. Consumers signing up to the tariff can be confident that they are getting 12 per cent more renewable energy than they would otherwise have got. The carbon emissions from their electricity and gas will also be offset with emissions reductions from projects accredited by the United Nations.”

Zero Carbon is one of the first initiatives launched through the ‘We’re in this Together’ campaign, which was launched in April 07 as an alliance of some of the UK’s biggest brands who are all working to help their customers reduce their impact on the climate.

Dr Steve Howard, CEO of The Climate Group and founder of ‘We’re in this Together’ said, “We’re committed to offering people ways to make a real impact on climate change through Together.com. We’ve worked with British Gas to ensure that Zero Carbon is a genuine step forward in delivering more environmental benefits than any other tariff currently available.”

British Gas’s second green energy tariff, Future Energy, offers an alternative green electricity tariff at a premium of just £20 per year. Customers signing up to this tariff will contribute to a green fund which will provide solar panels and other renewable energy technologies to UK schools. Money from the fund will also be invested in development of future renewable technologies and sources.

To sign up customers can call British Gas on 0845 604 0055 or visit www.britishgas.co.uk

The Secret to a Lasting Marriage

My sister emailed the following story to me. It's worth reading!

**********************************************************************************

When I was a little girl, my mom liked to make breakfastfood for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night inparticular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work.

On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned toast in front of my dad. I remember waiting tosee if anyone noticed! Yet, all my dad did was reached for his toast, smiled at my mom, and asked me how my day was at school.

I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that toast and eat every bite! When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the toast. And I'll never forget what he said: "Baby, I love burned toast."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his toast burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Debbie, your mommy put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides, a little burnt toast never hurt anyone!"

In bed that night, I thought about that scene at dinner... and the kindness my daddy showed my mom. To this day, it's a cherished memory from my childhood that I'll never forget. And it's one that came tomind just recently when Jack and I sat down to eat dinner.

I had arrived home late... as usual... and decided we would have breakfast food for dinner. Some things never change, I suppose!

To my amazement, I found the ingredients I needed, and quickly beganto cook eggs, turkey sausage, and buttered toast. Thinking I had things under control, I glanced through the mail for the day. It was only a few minutes later that I remembered that I had forgotten to take the toast out of the oven!

Now, had it been any other day -- and had we had more than two pieces of bread in the entire house -- I would have started all over. But it had been one of those days and I had just used up the last two piecesof bread. So burnt toast it was!

As I set the plate down in front of Jack, I waited for a comment aboutthe toast. But all I got was a "Thank you!" I watched as he ate bite by bite, all the time waiting for some comment about the toast. But instead, all Jack said was, "Babe, this is great. Thanks for cooking tonight. I know you had a hard day."

As I took a bite of my charred toast that night, I thought about my mom and dad...how burnt toast hadn't been a deal-breaker for them. And I quietly thanked God for giving me a marriage where burnt toast wasn't a deal-breaker either!

You know, life is full of imperfect things...and imperfect people. I'm not the best housekeeper or cook. And you might be surprised to findout that Jack isn't the perfect husband! He likes to play his music too loud, he will always find a way to avoid yard work, and he watches far too many sports. Believe it or not, watching " Golf Academy " is not my idea of a great night at home!

But somehow in the past 37 years Jack and I have learned to accept the imperfections in each other. Over time, we have stopped trying to make each other in our own mold and have learned to celebrate our differences. You might say that we've learned to love each other for who we really are!

For example, I like to take my time, I'm a perfectionist, and I'm even-tempered. I tend to work too much and sleep too little. Jack, onthe other hand, is disciplined, studious, an early riser, and is a marketer's dream consumer. I count pennies and Jack could care less! Where he is strong, I am weak, and vice versa.

And while you might say that Jack and I are opposites, we're also very much alike. I can look at him and tell you what he's thinking. I can predict his actions before he finalizes his plans. On the other hand, he knows whether I'm troubled or not the moment I enter a room.

We share the same goals. We love the same things. And we are still best friends. We've traveled through many valleys and enjoyed many mountain tops. And yet, at the same time, Jack and I must work every minute of every day to make this thing called "marriage" work!

What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to celebrate each other's differences - is the one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting marriage relationship.

And that's my prayer for you today. That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your married life and lay them at the feet of GOD. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a marriage where burnt toast isn't a deal-breaker!

Have a great day! May God bless your marriage.

PPP: Storage Bed

This is a sponsored post.

In Netherlands, most of the houses here do not have a large squarefeet. The student apartment that we are renting also not large enough. I always find that it is so hard for me to find a place to keep things that is not oftenly in use. As you know, we have 4 seasons in Netherlands. We need to have clothes for different seasons. It is hard for me to find a proper place to keep our clothes espeacially winter coat which need a big space to keep. How I wish I can have a under bed storage or even better, a king bed with storage so that I can keep some of the winter coat nicely under my bed!

Looking for a bedroom set? Don't you think the storage bed features at http://furniturefromhome.com/ is a great product? This platform bookcase bed with plenty of storage, dresser, mirror, night stand package is not only beautiful, but it has a price made for the books! Plenty of additional storage space within the bed frame is a unique find that is greatly sought after. Most importantly, it made from quality hardware, solid wood! I am sure your lover will love to come home earlier to enjoy the comfortable rest on a quality bed!

What you think?

When come to potty train Anne, Loong is not that supportive. You see, I am the one who will be blamed by my mother, MIL and SIL for not potty train Anne now, not HIM!! He is the one who always reject my intention to potty train Anne. Started yesterday, I decided to ignore his comment. I let Anne go diaper-less during day time (except her nap time). She pees every where around the house. I don't care. I think this is just temporary, but not Loong. When he is at home, he always request me to let Anne wear her diaper. I want to be consistent during the potty train process. What for sekejap pakai, sekejap tak pakai? When Anne pees, he will get angry some more... Do you think I did something wrong? Why he gets angry just because Anne pees? I am sure if I don't potty train Anne before we go back to Malaysia this year Anne, when we are back, I will shoot by my in laws for sure! He won't get scold, I will.

I don't care. I don't want to care so much! I have decided to potty train Anne now!! NOW!!! Wish me good luck, ok?

The following items were my new "tools" in potty train Anne, a training-toilet-seat and 2 training pants (she rejected potty!).

PPP: Tech/lifestyle blog

This is a sponsored post.

Do you find it interesting to read other's blog? I enjoy reading parenthood blog and also blog talking about lifestyle. I do not have the luxury to blog hop during weekday as my daugther is a high demand toddler who will insist me to be with her most of the time. I can start enjoy myself on weekend as my husband will be at home, leave his reseach aside, spending time with our daugther and let me have a break. Then I can have more time to read some interesting parenthood blog, may be also this tech/lifestyle blog : A Cool Friday!

Books to read.

I bought the following 2 books from ebay.co.uk:
  • The Discovery of the Child
  • The Absorbent Mind

Both are written by Maria Montessori. I have yet to receive the books, I wish I will enjoy reading these books. First book cost me GBP2.00 as someone bid for the book as well. For the 2nd book, it only cost me GBP0.99. BUT! The postage for these 2 books are wayyyyy expensive than the book itself. I paid GBP6.83 for postage!!! So expensive eh! Anyway, I do not think I can find these books here and I paid using my PPP money mah. So, OK lah!!!

Total money spent: £9.37 GBP = $19.44 USD (1 U.S. Dollar = 0.482097 Pounds Sterling)

Updated on 15/08/2007

Ebay seller refunded £1.40 to me because standard airmail which worked out to be cheaper than the original quote. I must say he is a nice seller!

PPP: Aluminum Cabinets

This is a sponsored post.

Unlike steel, aluminum will not rust or deteriorate when exposed to moisture. Unlike wood, aluminum is resistant to mold, mildew and corrosion.

Would you put aluminum cabinets line in your kitchen? I think I will because aluminum is a good and last for long material which is very suitable for kitchen. I love solid wood, so I will choose brown color as my kitchen's main color. Most importantly, aluminum cabinet is very easy to clean. When you cook, you cannot avoid your kitchen become oily (especially chinese that cook with wok). If your kitchen cabinet is an aluminium cabinet, you just need a piece of cloth to mop the surface of the cabinet after you have done your cooking. Not like other material, eg. wood which will look so ugly and difficult to clean when cover by a layer of sticky oil.

So, will you consider to put aluminium cabinets in your kitchen?

Pissed!

Last weekend, we joined IHE's excursion to Belgium. It was a 2 days 1 night trip. I will talk about the trip in my other blog. Here, I want to complaint about one China girl in our group. I think she do not have common sense. We were in a group, we must think of other people when we were in a group! But this girl is so terrible. Never punctual. Always late! Whole group wait for her and her gang. You see, if she lost her way or she said sorry when she come, then I am OK. But she didn't show any sign of regret. She was late, she some more can walk slow slow like that... Another China guy also beh-tahan and told her that she was late. She said: "My gang getting bigger leh!" (that time another 3 China followed her footsteps!). I am so pissed by this girl... Then, the way she talks in the bus is like talking to the whole bus, so loud and clear! Bising!!! I do not have her picture, if I have... I will show her face big, big here!

PPP: Portable Scanner

This is a sponsored post.

Talking about scanner make me think of my first scanner. Not mine, actually. That scanner belongs to Loong (that time still my boy friend). I need a scanner to scan some pictures on brouchers for my thesis purpose. Believe or not, the scanner is still our one and only scanner until now. It keeps in a store room for a long time already because We only will use it once in a blue moon. Since we moved from JB to KL, we didn't even take it out from the box, install it and use it. Why? This is a good question. Because I am too lazy to take it out from the box and find a place to put it and install it. The worst part is, after I use it I have to put it back into the box and put it back into our store room. Our computer table do not have enough space for this scanner. In another word - our scanner is HUGE! It need a BIG space to locate it! How I wish I can have a light and portable scanner.

I was surprise when I first found out about this ScanShell 2000N (2000NR) portable document scanner. The ScanShell 2000N (2000NR) portable scanner is the ideal A4 color scanner for the busy professionals and executives. This light weight (only 14oz/390g) and convenient scanner is powered using only the USB 2.0 port allows for a fast and easy one-cable hook up to your notebook or desktop PC. More importantly, it is conveniently carried along with a laptop and requires a minimal footprint on the desktop. Besides that, ScanShell 2000N (2000NR) also enables users to fax, email and organize all of business documents, with the "touch of a button".

Bundled software - DocShell is an easy to use utility that scan documents and export the scanned image into existing, pre-installed application on the user's pc (PDF,Microsoft paint etc.). The scanned document can be saved to one of the following image types: BMP, JPG, TIF, PSD, PCX, PNG or TGA. With the utility provided, I believe you will become more professional in imaging.

Looking for a portable scanner? You can read more about ScanShell 2000N (2000NR) here!

We prefer to watch slowly but in cantonese! :)

PPP: Star Craft

This is a sponsored post.

Do you play starcraft? If you like PC games, I am sure you know starcraft! My brother and my husband are 2 starcraft fansee. I must warn you, it's OK if you didn't play it. Once you started to play, you can't stop!

There was once that I was so mad with Loong because he prefer to spent his time in front of PC fighting with starcraft than spending the time with me! I don't mind a person play with any PC game, but, one must know the limit! You can play if you know how to control yourself, manage your time and watch your health!

Anyway, you can find a lot of starcraft & starcraft 2 from this website: http://www.creepcolony.com/. I hope my brother and my husband will not read this post, else, they will be addicted again!

The Manager's Way.

If you are a manager... Then, don't continue your reading!

A team of Managers was given an assignment to measure the height of aflagpole. So the Managers go out to the flagpole with ladders and tape. They're falling off the ladders, dropping the tape measures - the wholething is just a mess.

An Engineer comes along and sees what they're trying to do, walks over, pulls the flagpole out of the ground, lays it flat, measures it from end toend, gives the measurement to one of the managers and walks away.

After the Engineer has gone, one manager turns to another and laughs. "Seethis idiot. We're looking for height and he gives the length!"

Moral: "No matter what good you do, Managers can always find fault in you".

Manager, are you reading?? This is only a joke, ok?

I didn't really work hard on this site. I put most of my post in my other blog. The other reason is I cannot spent more than 15 mins in front of the PC. My girl will kacau me when she saw me sitting in front of the PC for too long. That's why, if I have time, I will choose to read some online magazine/newspaper, blog hopping and update my other blog. No time to write paid-post... eh, not many opps for me also lah!!!

Today, since Loong went to IHE a little bit late, I logged into PPP to have a look. Eiks.. suprise!!! I have oppurtunities to write. This is pretty abnormal. Then I checked... all are PR3... Haha... yes, my PR is updated to 3 now! Not bad huh, at least I can have more opps to write... I am happy!

PPP: Furniture!

This is a sponsored post.

I have a dream since I was still a teenager. I dream that, one day I can have my own house decorated according to my own taste! First, I would like to have a well furnished kitchen! Since the day I came over to Netherlands, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking for my daugther and my husband. I started to love cooking and searching for all kind of recipe from the website. I feel satisfied when I see my 2 "lover" enjoy my cooking. But, because we are living a student life now, we cannot afford many of the kitchen tools. I only can cook those simple dish which do not required things like oven! Yes, I do not have an oven now! So, in future, when we have sattle down in our own house, I am sure I will put a lot of efford and money to get my kitchen done!

Next, my master bedroom. One will spent 1/3 of his life time to sleep. That's why a good bed is very important to me. I love to sleep! So, I must have a good mattress, good pillow so that I can have a very good quality sleep. I fall in love at first sight with all the Bedroom Furniture show in this furniture website: http://furniturefromhome.com/. I love solid wood furniture. They last for long, looks pretty and solid. My mother in law once told me that, when we bought a bed, must get a king size bed. Why? Because when you have a quarrel with your other half, the bed is still big enough to saparate the 2 husband and wife. True or not? Depend to individuals.

Study room or home office is another important area in my future house. When talking about home office, the most important furniture will be a cabinet that can fix in all the books we have. Beside a multi-purpose study table also play an important part. Browse here for Furniture Home Office. You can see that all the home office furniture are designed to make your home office looks comfortable and make full use of the space. You will love to work from home if you decorated your study room/home office like that.

Now a days, a lot of young people would like to have a bar corner in their house. It's the best way to have a nice chat between a couple and also friends. Looking for a good Tall bar stool? Try to search at http://furniturefromhome.com/. I believe you can find your good stool there. They have lots of variety for you to choose from.
